John M. Chavez

July 8, 1935 — March 2, 2023

John Mike Chavez, 87, passed away March 2, 2023 in Pueblo at Parkview Medical Center with his family by his side. He was born on July 8, 1935, to John M and Ramona (Maes) Chavez, in Las Animas, CO.


He was a veteran of the U.S Navy. He was employed by the Veterans Administration, and the U.S. Air Force Academy. He was an active member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.


He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Juanita Vasquez, they were married on August 23, 1975. He is also survived by his sons, Michael (Rachel), Mark (Karen), Troy (Jessica). He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and a great-great granddaughter.


Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be March 9, 2023 at 9:30 a.m. with the Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:00 a.m. both services will be at Our Lady of Guadalupe/St Patrick Parish. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.


Peacock-Larsen Funeral Home & Arkansas Valley Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
