Joseph George Orlando Barron

October 8, 1931 — July 4, 2019

It is with great sadness that the family of Joseph (Joe) George Orlando Barron announces his passing on July 4, 2019 in Denver, Colorado. Our proud veteran was freed from suffering on Independence Day. Joe was born October 8, 1931 in Segundo, Colorado to Pasquala and Manuel Barron.

At the age of 2 and 3, he lived with his family in Mexico before moving to Trinidad and later La Junta. As a young boy, he helped support his family by picking coal near the railroad tracks in Trinidad, working in the grape fields of California, and working for the railroad at the age of 12 and early teens. At 19, he enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served in the artillery division in the Korean Conflict. After Korea, he returned to La Junta and began his 27 years of employment as a mechanic at the Pueblo Army Depot. It was at the Depot where he met Juanita (Jennie) Genoveva Roybal. The two married on January 14, 1956 and started their family in Rocky Ford. They later moved to La Junta where they raised eight children and continued their life together for 49 years until Juanita passed away in 2005. Joe was a hard-working man, who put his heart and soul into every job he tackled. He loved his Denver Broncos, Colorado Rockies, and Denver Nuggets. He took great pride in working and maintaining his yard, loved fishing, taking an occasional trip to Cripple Creek and Central City, and was notorious for being a clean freak.

He is preceded in death by his wife Juanita, son George, sisters, Nadine and Mary Lou (in infancy), mother, Pasquala, and father, Manuel. He is survived by his children Myra (Andy) Barron-Vigil, Robert (Sabonita) Barron, Sharon (John) Venditti, Donna Barron, Ron (Julie) Barron, Barbara (Ralph) Dehnert, Jim (Veronica) Barron, daughter in-law Sandra Barron, 15 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, 1 great, great-grandchild on the way, siblings, Jennie Anaya, Patricia (Paul) Baca, Mary (Joe) Moreno, Frank and Manuel Jr., and numerous nephews and nieces.

The family is grateful to Suncrest Hospice and Holly Heights Nursing Care for the services and care he was provided in his final days.
