Kenneth Lee Scott

July 16, 1959 — December 8, 2009

Kenneth Lee Scott, 50, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 8, 2009 at his La Junta home. Memorial service will be Monday, Dec. 14, 2009, at 10:00 a.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel with Father Bernhard Ebert officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, December 13th from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel.
He was born on July 16, 1959 to Clyde M. & Loretta (Pennington) Scott, Sr., in Rocky Ford, Colorado.
Kenneth attended Swink schools and served in the U.S. Navy (U.S.S. Hull) and the Colorado Army National Guard. Following his honorable discharge from the Navy, he returned to the Swink area, where he met and married Joyce Kenner. To that union were born two sons, Chad M. Scott, whom is currently serving with the U.S. Army at Fort Drum in New York State, and Jason M. Scott, who is currently with the U.S. Air Force at Cannon Air Force Base in Clovis, New Mexico.  Mr. Scott lived in Mt. Joy, PA while his children were growing up and returned to the Swink area to help his father in the refrigeration business. He enjoyed track and field events in high school, loved bowling, hunting, camping, and fishing and was an avid golfer, and he enjoyed karoke. He was a member of the La Junta Rifle Club, VFW Post #336, La Junta Elks Lodge #701, an associate member of the Cripple Creek Elks Lodge #316.
He is survived by his mother, Loretta Scott; father, Clyde Scott, Sr.; children, Chad M. (Angela Lippold) Scott; Jason M. (Marbella) Scott; companion and best friend, Elaine McIntyre, and her children, Tracey, Matthew, & Sydney; brothers, Clyde (Kathie) Scott, Jr.; David Joe Scott; sisters, Judy (Kurt) Menges; and Susan (David) Malott; the mother of his children, Joyce (Bill) Thompson; and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
