Kenneth Wayne Ketchie

Kenneth Wayne Ketchie, 73, passed away on December 15, 2020 at the Fowler Nursing Care Center. He born on December 27, 1946 in Denver to Edward P. & Ollie T. (Cook) Ketchie.

He married twice first to Barbara Kaupp and then to Frances Tovson. Kenneth and Frances where married for 37 years. Kenneth was a father, stepfather, and a grandfather. He loved to be a jokester and have a good laugh. He was an accomplished antique furniture upholster for 16 years and later in life a custom welder for 26 years. He had a passion for welding, he built the Gorilla cage at the Denver Zoo, also built the stage for Pink Floyd’s “The Wall Tour”, the Ice House by Coors field the handrails and bannisters, handrails for under the Broadway walkway downtown Denver, for Kmart on 104th and Washington frontage and inside pillars and many years ago when Keystone ski lift turnstile broke he repaired it and most of all he was very proud that he could weld two pop cans together. He was also a skilled master craftsman. For many years he and Frances did recreational gold prospecting, didn’t get rich but they loved doing it. He loved his cats most of all after his family.

The last three years of his life were filled with trials, tribulations but most of all fun, laughter and love.

He is survived by his wife, Frances of the Ordway home; children, Robert Taylor of Ordway; Christine (Russell) McDermott of Brighton, CO; grandchildren, Paul McDermott, Heather Taylor, Garrett Stasis, Grayson Ketchie, and Brayden Ketchie; brother, Edward P. Ketchie, Jr. of Aurora; one nephew and one niece. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Kenneth Michael Ketchie.

As per Kenneth’s request cremation has taken place and no services are planned at this time.
