Kristina R. Barela

Our mother Kristina Barela known as giggles by many passed away this Saturday, May 22nd, 2021. She was born on June 25, 1972 in La Junta to Jose Miguel & Rose (Zamora) Lopez; she was 48 years old.

Kristina is survived by her husband, Elodio Vasquez of La Junta; children, Alexandra Barela and Jesus Barela, both of La Junta; sister, Susie (Jesus) Mariscal of La Junta; brother Ted Lopez of Pueblo; her grand cat, Mittens; nephews Mike Wilson and Zeymar Jimenez; nieces, Soledad (Larry) Zamora, Grasiela (Brent Daniels) Mariscal, Yolanda Zamora, and Megan Wilson. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Christopher, Albert and Michael Lopez.

She was always smiling and laughing even in her final week she was laughing with the nurses. Her passion in life was playing bingo if she could she would every day. She enjoyed having bingo parties and potlucks. She would enjoy trying new recipes for everyone to try at the potlucks. We will miss you mommy just know we will never forget you.

A memorial service will be Friday, May 28, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel with Reverend John Dell of the First Christian Church of Rocky Ford officiating.
