Kurt Grasmick

October 21, 1957 — July 30, 2023

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Kurt, who peacefully departed this world on July 30, 2023. He was a loving son, father, grandfather, and a dear friend to many.

Born on October 21, 1957 in Rocky Ford, Colorado to Robert "Bob" and Leona "Carol" Grasmick. Kurt attended school in Rocky Ford graduating Rocky Ford High School in 1975. He received his Paramedic certification while working for Middlekamp Ambulance service in Pueblo, CO. While attending the Police Academy, he was awarded the Top Cadet of his class. He then worked as a Detention Deputy for the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office for 21 years before his retirement in December of 2015. Kurt lived a life of honesty, hard work, and integrity. He touched the hearts of those who knew him with his witty humor and genuine friendship. As a father, Kurt was a source of unwavering support and encouragement. He taught us valuable life lessons and instilled in us a sense of integrity, resilience, and empathy. He was always our biggest fan and never missed an opportunity to share what a proud father and grandfather he was. His presence in our lives was a deep source of support and will be sorely missed. He was a proud "Grampy" to his beautiful grand-daughters and never missed an opportunity to share with others his love for them.

Throughout his life, Kurt enjoyed fishing, camping, shooting and creating lasting memories with his loved ones. His laughter and sense of humor were infectious, brightening even the darkest of days. Kurt's humor remained with him throughout his final days and he still managed to keep us laughing.

Kurt leaves behind a legacy of love and resilience that will continue to inspire and uplift us. He will forever be remembered as a pillar of our lives, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who knew him.

Kurt is preceded in death by his grandparents, Manuel and Lydia Eckerdt, Gottlieb "Scotty" and Lydia Grasmick, father, Robert “Bob” Grasmick, and brother, Rick Grasmick. He is survived by his mother, Leona "Carol" Grasmick of La Junta, CO; son, Brandon (Brook) Grasmick of Canon City CO; daughter, Brooke (Marlon) Douglas and granddaughters, Marlie and Myla Douglas of Pueblo West, CO.
