Laverne E. Davis

March 31, 1938 — March 21, 2012

LaVerne E. Davis, 73, of La Junta, passed away on March 21, 2012 at the Arkansas Valley Regional Nursing Care Center. She was born on March 31, 1938 in La Junta, Colorado to Henry & Dolly (Bender) Grasmick. She married Jim Davis on September 16, 1956 in La Junta, Colorado.

LaVerne was a bookkeeper for Cotton Chase, Big R, and the Inspiration Field (formerly the Girch Center). She enjoyed traveling to see her family in California, Kansas, Oklahoma and Virginia. LaVerne loved watching her children and grandchildren in their sporting activities. She was a active member in the United Methodist Church and the AVRMC Auxiliary. Her passion in life was her family & friends and she will be greatly missed. 

LaVerne is survived by her husband, Jim Davis of the La Junta family home; children, Tammy (Larry) Trimble of Arkansas City, KS, Glen (Sandra) Davis of Arkansas City, KS, Brian (Candy) Davis of Broken Arrow, OK; daughter-in-law, Jamie (Brad) Swartz of La Junta; grandchildren, Chad (Jessica Turner) Davis, Luke (Nicki) Davis, Taylor Davis, Tucker Davis, Cole Davis, Chase Davis, Seth Davis, and Grace Davis; great-grandchildren, McKenzie & Addyson Davis; siblings, Eugene (Shirley) Grasmick, Kenneth (Barbara) Grasmick and Delilah (JD) Spangle; and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry & Dolly Grasmick, son, Steve Davis and brother, Rick Grasmick.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Assoc., Rocky Mountain Chapter Attn: Keith Swanson, 455 Sherman Street, Denver, CO, 80203, or the  American Diabetes Association, 2480 West 26th Avenue, Suite 120-B, Denver, CO, 80211 direct or through the funeral home. 


Memorial service will be Saturday, March 24, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. at United Methodist Church with Reverend Terilynn Russ officiating.
