Leanna Kay Werner

April 8, 1943 — August 1, 2010

Kay Werner, 67, of La Junta passed away on Sunday, August 1, 2010 at the Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center after fighting a courageous battle with cancer for 2 ½ years.
    She was born to Carl & Agnes (Kramer) Jochems in Dodge City, Kansas on April 8, 1943. She married Stan Werner on May 19, 1962 in Windhorst, Kansas.
   Kay was retired from Valley Credit & Collections. She also was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe/St. Patrick Parish.
    She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Stan of the family home; children, Tammy Becker of Lawrence, Kansas; Kim (Dave) Savage of Upland, California; Butch (Kathy) Werner of Swink, Colorado; grandchildren, Colin Becker; Cameron & Kristen Savage; Leilani Mullins; Zachary Werner; siblings, Carl (Jerry) Jochems of Concordia, Kansas; Terry Jochems of Pratt, Kansas; Karen Bruggeman of Hays, Kansas; Pat Cupps of Haven, Kansas; Mary Lynn Jochems of Wichita, Kansas; and special friend, Esther Mattedi of Swink, Colorado.
    Kay was preceded in death by her parents, Carl & Agnes Jochems; brother, Steve Jochems; granddaughter, Megan Savage.
    Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be Tuesday, August 3, 2010, at 7:00 p.m. and Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. both services at our Lady of Guadalupe/St. Patrick Parish.  A private family inurnment will take place.  Visitation will be Tuesday, August 3rd from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Megan’s Wings Foundation (Kay’s granddaughter’s foundation) at www.meganwings.org direct or through the funeral home. Donations will support cancer patients in the Arkansas Valley area.
