Margaret R. Roberts

Margaret R, Roberts, 93, passed away Sunday, April 10, 2011 at her La Junta home. Margaret was born to Isaiah & Bettie (Phillips) Hayes in Miami, New Mexico on January 10, 1918. She married Marion L. “Bud” Roberts on March 13, 1938 in Fowler; he preceded her in death on July 20, 2007.
Margaret graduated from Rocky Ford High School with the class of 1936. She also attended the Modern Beauty School in Colorado Springs and graduated from there in February of 1937. Margaret operated her Beauty Shop (where Avante’s is located) until her marriage then she stayed at home to raise her eight children. Margaret also was a member of the First Christian Church.
She is survived by her children, Peggy Enloe of La Junta; Carol (Dick) Leach of Rocky Ford; Debbie (Steve) Norris of La Junta; Steve (Rita) Roberts of La Junta; daughters-in-law, Peggy Roberts of Oklahoma City and Barbara Roberts of Goose Creek, S.C.; grandchildren, Charles, Jr, Michelle, Laurie, Bunny, Mike, Patty, Missy, Buddy, Jud, Kit, Shad, Kim, Randy, Rick, Kelli, Mike, Stephanie, Pam, CJ; numerous great-grandchildren and great, great-grandchildren also survive.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; sons, Charles Roberts who died during the Vietnam Conflict in 1972; Garry Lee Roberts in 2009; granddaughter, Pamela Gaye McLaughlin; and two great-grandchildren, Shawna Morris & Christopher Waggoner.
Memorial service will be Friday, April 15, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. at the First Christian Church with Reverend Ron Skorick officiating.
