Marguerite R. Marez (Martinez) Wadsworth passed away peacefully on July 5, 2016 at her home. She was born July 26, 1925 in Gallup, New Mexico.

In her early teenage years, Marguerite moved to Trinidad, Colorado. She saw many of her friends and schoolmates go off to war and never return. In Trinidad, Marguerite met her late husband. She witnessed history through surviving the Great Depression, the Dust Bowl, and was greatly affected by losing so many friends in World War II. This tragedy prompted her to enjoy each day as if it were her last. Marguerite witnessed and lived out history. Born in a homestead with dirt floors, she watched as our transportation system evolved from horse-and-buggy to the cars we see today. She saw us go from the telegraph to cell phones. Starting in Folsom, New Mexico, Marguerite moved to Trinidad, Colorado before moving to Horse Creek, Wyoming and then Cheyenne, Wyoming, before finally arriving at La Junta, Colorado. As a single mother, Marguerite raised seven children during. Her sons are very successful in their careers.

Having begun her life with little means, Marguerite learned to be thrifty and to work hard. Through this hard work, Marguerite was able to purchase her own home. After working to the age of 77 years old for Dean Pickle, the Turkey Plant, and as a hotel manager, even Marguerite was not ready to retire. Always friendly and loved by many friends and family, Marguerite will truly be missed by many.

Marguerite is survived in death by her children Karen King, Nicholas Martinez, David and Deb Martin, Thomas and Chris Martinez, Charles and Stacy Martinez, son-in-law Ronnie Hotchkiss, numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
