Maria J. Vigil

Maria J. Vigil, 86, passed away on Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at her La Junta home.    She was born on February 8, 1925 in El Agostadero Durango, Mexico to Felipe & Delores (Hernandez) Vasquez.
    She is survived by her beloved companion Juan R. “Cuco” Lopez; daughters Maria (Mel) Estrada, Monica (Daniel) Mendoza, Dora (Larry) Lopez; step-daughter Bella (Mike) Vigil; step-sons Clarence (Sarah) Vigil, Oliver (Stella) Vigil, Ernie (Karen) Vigil, Paul (Beatrice) Vigil, and Kenny (Brenda) Vigil; also raised her grandchildren Sonia (Gustavo) Vasquez and Leroy (Barbara) Whatley; sister Maria L. Vasquez; several  nieces, nephews, and cousins; grandchildren Lorraine (Shannon) Trujillo, Crystal (Jesus) Estrada, Rey Mendoza, Roberta Apodaca, Amy Mendoza, Chasity Archuleta, Arnell (Gabe) Caro, Leticia Vigil, Luis Mendoza, Krysten Lopez, Starr Apodaca; great-grandchildren Karlos Vasquez, II, Brennon Trujillo, Kristian Ross, Neesa Vasquez, Khrystian Vasquez, Brendon Trujillo, Jeremy Romero, Kailee Trujillo, Alexa Romero, Dominik Caro, Alex Apodaca, Maliah Apodaca, Estebon Apodaca, Gabriel Caro, Victor Apodaca, Logan Garcia, and Daniela Vasquez; great, great-grandchild, Kristopher Trujillo. She was preceded in death by her parents; son Arnold Vigil; grandson, Karlos Vasquez, I; brother Miguel Hernandez; nephew Raul Hernandez; step-daughters Judy Montoya and Laura Martinez.    
    Visitation will be Saturday, June 11th from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday, June 12th from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be Sunday, June 12, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe/St. Patrick Parish. Funeral Mass will be Monday, June 13, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe/St. Patrick Parish with father Alphonsus Ihuoma officiating. Interment will follow at the Calvary Cemetery.
