Maria Orlinda Horak

Maria Orlinda Horak, 88, of La Junta passed away Sunday, December 19, 2010 at the Arkansas Valley Regional Nursing Care Center. She was born on January 9, 1922, in Chama, Colorado to Andrew & Rosarita (Sanchez) Maestas. She married Yaro Michael Horak, on May 14, 1945 in Pueblo; he preceded her in death in 1995.
Linda lived with her husband Yaro Michael and their three children, Joseph Michael, Theresa Juanita, and Eugene Edward in Ft. Lyon, Colorado before making their home in La Junta.
Linda was a loving mother and active member of the Catholic Church in Las Animas and La Junta. She volunteered and was a passionate provider to the less fortunate. She had a loving heart, smile, and her laughter will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her two sons, Joe (Jenny) Horak of La Junta and Gene (Vickie) Horak of Littleton, CO; several nieces & nephews also survive.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew & Rosarita Maestas, husband, Mike and daughter, Theresa in 2006.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be Monday, December 27, 2010, at 9:30 a.m. and Funeral Mass will follow at, 10:00 a.m., both services will be at Our Lady of Guadalupe/St. Patrick Parish with Father Paul Ekeh officiating. Internment will follow at the Calvary Cemetery in La Junta. Visitation will be Sunday, December 27, 2010 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Peacock Memorial Chapel.
