Marian Virginia Johnson

January 13, 1927 — November 2, 2019

Marian V. Johnson (Miller), 92 of La Junta passed away on Saturday, November 2, 2019 in Lamar, Colorado.

Marian was born in Swink, Colorado on January 13, 1927, soon after the family moved to Timpas where she was raised with her 6 siblings. She was the oldest of the 6 and was the last surviving sibling.

Marian started her career at The Harvey House, eventually moving on to work at the Santa Fe Railroad where she met Pete Robert Johnson, who she married and moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico with to start their family. The Johnson's had 8 children together while living in Albuquerque, before moving to Timpas, Colorado. After Pete's passing, Marian moved to La Junta.

Marian is survived by her sons, Carey (Pattie) Johnson of Las Vegas, Nevada; Leonard R. Johnson and Garlin Michels both of West Hollywood, California and daughters, Patti (Tim) Albert of Evans, Colorado; Phyllis Blea of Aurora, Colorado and Karen (Jay Gruber) Moreno of Lamar, Colorado. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Pete Johnson, daughter, Joan Cordova, son's, Sherman and Bryan Johnson, and great-granddaughter, Mea Delarosa.

Marian was proud to be the grandmother of several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, along with all the lives she touched while she ran her daycare.

Marian will be remembered for her generous and giving heart. Her great sense of humor and laugh would always warm the hearts of everyone in the room. She was also known for her amazing cooking, especially her Christmas candy.

A Celebration of Life for a Great daughter, sister and most of all the thing she was proudest of, being a Mother will be held with a graveside service on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at Fairview Cemetery at 10:30 a.m. with Reverend Ian Blacker of the First Christian Church in Lamar officiating.
