Marilyn L. Mast

January 14, 1935 — December 3, 2021

Marilyn L. Mast, 86, passed away peacefully at her La Junta home on Friday, December 3, 2021. She was born on January 14, 1935, to Ralph & Lillian Miller in La Junta.

Marilyn grew up in La Junta where she worked for the Santa Fe Railroad as a stenographer. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who was always willing to lend a helping hand whenever needed. She was a lifelong member of the First Christian Church. Richard and Marilyn were also members of the Otero Museum Association and the Southeast Colorado Antique Vehicles Car Club. As an active member in the community and her home life, it was hard to find a time of day where she wasn’t moving around helping with multiple organizations or decorating her home. She would adorn her home with knickknacks to go along with the seasons and holidays as they changed. Her door and her dinner table were always open to anyone who needed it. Marilyn has left a light that will forever burn brightly in the hearts of everyone who knew her.

She is survived by her brothers, Kenney (Peggy) Miller and Larry (Claudette) Miller; sister, Sally Johnson; sons, Allen (Becky) Ritter and Keith (Pam) Ritter; daughter, Leslie Ritter; grandchildren, Michael (Laura) Ritter, Aimee (Bryan) Hill, Ashley (Thomas) Kelley, William Ritter; great-grandchildren, Hayden Ritter, Abigail Hill, Violet Ritter and Calvin Hill. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Richard Mast.

A graveside service will be Friday, December 10, 2021, at 2:00 p.m., at the Fairview Cemetery with Pastor John Dell of the First Christian Church in Rocky Ford officiating.

Online condolences may be made at www.PeacockFH.com. Peacock-Larsen Funeral Home & Arkansas Valley Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
