Marlene Lucille Nicklos

February 24, 1932 — August 12, 2012

Marlene Lucille (Meyer) Nicklos, 80, passed away August 12, 2012.  She was born on February 24, 1932 to Werner and Anna (Porter) Meyer.  Marlene married Jack Nicklos, a life-long farmer and rancher of the Horse Creek Community, on November 23, 1950 in Las Animas.  Jack passed away November 24, 2005 with Marlene by his side.

Marlene is survived by sons Michael (Mary Sue) Nicklos of La Junta, David (Mary Ann) Nicklos of Hale, Colorado, and Robert Nicklos of La Junta; daughters Becky (Carl) Otteman of La Junta, Jill (David) Schwank of Loveland, Colorado; grandchildren Katie Sue, Elizabeth, Amy, Ross, Bradley, Kari and Ashley; sisters Yolanda Dick of Bountiful, Utah, and Rita Gabehart of Las Animas; and brother Walter Meyer of Farmington, New Mexico.  Marlene was preceded in death by her husband Jack, grandson Matthew Nicklos, sisters Leona Wright and Anita Richer, and brothers Frederick and Raymond Meyer.

Those wishing to make a memorial contribution may do so to Arkansas Valley Hospice or Casa Del Sol Retirement Community.

Peacock-Larsen Funeral Home & Arkansas Valley Crematory is in charge of arrangements.


A private graveside service followed by a gathering of her children and grandchildren will be held to honor and celebrate her life.
