Mary M. Martinez

Mary M. Martinez, 101, of La Junta passed away on Thursday, January 22, 2009 at the Arkansas Valley Regional Nursing Care Center. Recitation of the Rosary will be Tuesday, January 27, 2009 at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be on Wednesday, January 28, 2009, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe/St. Patrick Parish with father Alphonsus Ihuoma officiating.
She was born on November 7, 1907 in Douglas, Arizona to Domingo & Celestina (Guerrero) Montelongo. She married Raymond Martinez, Sr. on January 22, 1934 in Holly, Colorado. He preceded her in death on July 21, 1994.
Mary was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe/St. Patrick Parish. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends for her compassionate ways and kind heart.
She is survived by her daughters, Carman (Cesario) Chavarria of Davenport, Iowa; Jennie (Joe) Gonzales of Swink, Colorado; son, Ramon Martinez, Jr. Stuarts Draft, Virginia; sister, Jennie (Don) Hood of Pueblo, Colorado; brothers, Domingo (Sadie) Montelongo, Jr. of Pueblo; Albert Montelongo of Pueblo; sister, Connie (Felix Godinez) Guerrero of Pueblo; 18 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and 11 great, great-grandchildren. Numerous nieces, nephews, and friends also survive.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant daughter, Maria Elena Martinez; daughter & son-in-law, Dolores & Paul Medina; daughter-in-law, Dolores Martinez; brothers & sisters-in-laws, Luz & Maria Montelongo, Cristobal & Victoria Montelongo; sisters & brother-in-law, Dolores & George Solorzano; Ruby Montelongo; brother, Henry Montelongo; great-granddaughter, Laura Mae Wallace.
