Miguel Narez

July 17, 1989 — April 28, 2018

John Miguel Narez Estrada, 28, left this earth on Saturday, April 28, 2018, for a bigger mission. He was born on July 17, 1989, at the Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center to MireIla Estrada and Juan Narez. Although Miguel was born to Juan, it was Julio Estrada who showed Miguel what it means to be a man. Miguel looked up to Julio as a father and the person he strived to be.

Miguel was born with broad shoulders to carry the weight of his accomplishments. As a junior in High School, he brought home a State Championship in the shot put for the Swink Lions. After graduating high school with honors in 2008, he was recruited by Adams State University, where he would continue to thrive receiving All-American Honors in Track and Field. He graduated with a Bachelors in Business Administration/Management. Born and raised to love and cherish family, he returned home where he worked for Child Development Services as the Disabilities and Mental Health Manager. He was also an Assistant Track coach for the La Junta Tigers, "Throwers Nation." He loved coaching and he loved working with kids.

In his leisure time, Miguel loved spending time with his mother, brother, grandparents, uncles, aunts, his many cousins, and the boys. He also loved traveling, Rockies games, and listening to Spanish and country music, whether it was on the radio or in concert. Miguel also loved and took pride in his pickup trucks, where he would spend hours washing and detailing them.

As you can see, he was a wonderful person and he accomplished so much at a young age. He lived life to the fullest and he showed that he wasn't scared of anything!

One of Miguel's favorite quotes was "Never settle for anything less than you deserve!"

So, let us remember him always as the person he was: brave, confident, smart, and always striving for greatness!

He is survived by his mother, Mirella Narez-Estrada of Swink; brother, Manuel Narez of Swink; grandmothers, Elvira Estrada-Martinez of Swink and Teresa Alcala of Michiocan, Mexico; seven uncles and three aunts. He was preceded in death by his father, grandfathers, Julio Estrada and Salvador Narez.
