Nettie Mcnutt

April 20, 1921 — May 18, 2010

Nettie M. McNutt, 89, longtime La Junta resident, passed away on Tuesday, May 18th at the Arkansas Valley Regional Nursing Care Center following a lengthy illness. Visitation will be Monday, May 24th from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 25th at 2 p.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel with Dr. Rex Williams, Pastor of the First Baptist Church officiating. Internment will follow at the Fairview Cemetery.

Mrs. McNutt was born in Fort Worth, TX on April 20, 1921 to William & Alma (Brown) Smith. She moved with her family to La Junta when she was a young teenager and graduated from La Junta High School in 1939. She married Leo C. Walker on April 15, 1939 in Raton, New Mexico; he preceded her in death on May 11, 1972. She later married R. A. "Mac" Mc Nutt on February 26, 1982 in La Junta; he preceded her in death on March 27, 2006.

Nettie is survived by her son, Bob (Marlene) Walker of Stuarts Draft, VA; daughter, Ann (Peter) Turnbull of Henderson, NV; granddaughters, Bev (Rick) Taylor of Stuarts Draft and Stephanie Paul of Las Vegas, NV; two step-daughters, Lanny (Larry) Lusk of Fowler and Linda Burns of Julesburg; also survived by other extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William & Alma Smith; her first husband, Leo C. Walker; and second husband, R. A. "Mac" McNutt; two brothers and one sister.

Peacock-Larsen Funeral Home & Arkansas Valley Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
