Norma Cox, 77, passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at her La Junta home. Visitation will be Friday, May 15th from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Peacock-Larsen Funeral Home. Graveside services will be Friday, May 15, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. at the Fairview Cemetery with Pastor Maynard Bowen of the Prairie Bible Chapel officiating.She was born on June 15, 1931 in Two Butte, Colorado to Ira Wessel & Lula Mae (Spohn) Purvis. She married Raymond Cox on March 7, 1972 in Raton, New Mexico. He preceded her in death in 1994.Norma worked as a Waitress for 52 years at Frances’s, Kit Carson, Capri, Copper Kitchen just to name a few of the restaurants she worked for. She had a passion for serving people and in her free time she enjoyed playing golf.She is survived by her daughter, Debra (James) Bach of Bismarck, ND; sons, Mike (Becky) Cornell of Billings, MT; Dave Cornell of Wichita, KS; daughter, Karen (Eric) Baca of La Junta; sisters, June Daniels of La Junta; Glenna Cotton of Cotton Falls, KS; Lorena Ashlock of Quincy, KS; grandchildren, Bryan, Lori (Matt), Raymond, Bob, Shane, Josh, Jarrett, Staci, and Justin; great-grandchildren, Caleb, Cohen, Sienna, and Antonio. Norma was preceded in death by her parents, Ira & Lula Purvis; husbands, Joe Cox in 1994; son, Dennis Cornell; and granddaughter, Amber Peters. Peacock-Larsen Funeral Home & Arkansas Valley Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
