Olan J. Langley

Olan “Frenchy” Langley, 93 of Pueblo, former longtime La Junta resident, passed away January 25, 2014 at Sky Ridge Medical Center in Lone Tree, CO. He was born on January 20, 1921 in Elton, LA.


“Frenchy” was stationed at the La Junta Air Base during WWII where he met the love of his life, Mary E. Colosimo at the USO. They married on June 25, 1944 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in La Junta to begin 69 blessed years together.


After brief careers in the post office, gas company, and as a Studebaker mechanic, he found his calling. “Frenchy” was the favorite barber at his own Colorado Barber Shop and the Opera House Barber Shop. He loved fishing, carrying the location of his secret catfish hole to his grave. He was always busy fixing cars, boats, lawnmowers, and relished bartering with anyone who had something to trade. He was a deeply religious Catholic.


He is survived by his wife, Mary Langley; daughter, Joyce “Joy” (Kevin) Kubie; son, Richard “Rick” Langley, all of Pueblo; grandchildren, Ryan (Brooke) Langley of Blaine, WA and Patrick “P.J.” Langley of Stillwell, KS; great-grandchildren, Braiden, Mason Olan, and Addison Langley of Stillwell; sister-in-law Elnora Langley of Eunice, LA; and numerous nieces and nephews. “Frenchy” was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers , three sisters, and daughter-in-law Marie Vider Langley.

Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, Jan. 31, 2014 at Our Lady of Guadalupe/St. Patrick Parish in La Junta. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery with military honors.
