Pauline M. Dicks

May 14, 1924 — April 19, 2011

Our little angel, Pauline M. Dicks, age 86, passed away on Tuesday, April 19th at Willow Pointe Memory Care, Verona. WI. After a five year battle with Alzheimer's, Pauline decided it was time to move on.
Pauline was born on May 14, 1924, in Denver, Colorado to Andrew and Louise (Archer) Villano. She attended Franklin Elementary School and graduated from Denver North High School. After high school she attended Denver Vocational School and earned a two year degree in clerical studies. She then took a position in the Civil Services Department with the Federal Government.
She enjoyed skiing in the Rockies (she always told us she was pretty good), volleyball and dancing. Her sister, Anna, was her personal dance instructor. She liked going to a local amusement park called Lakeside and watching the minor league baseball team, the Denver Bears, at Mile High Stadium.
She met William H. Dicks at a Denver University mixer in 1947 and they were married November, 11, 1950, in La Junta, Colorado. To this union was born four children, Martha, William, Jr., Linda, and Gerald. Their careers took them to Cheyenne, WY, Orlando, FL, Madison, WI, Corvallis, OR, Colorado Springs, CO, and finally back to Madison, WI, in the early seventies.
Throughout the years she enjoyed golf, bowling, knitting, needlepoint, bingo and bridge. She followed the Milwaukee Brewers each day during the season. Family vacations were always a high point during the summer. Pauline was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church and enjoyed teaching Sunday School during the early seventies.
But above all, her passion and her life was her family, and she always gave everything she had to us. She is survived by her three children, Bill (LaDonna) and Linda (Toby), Madison, WI, and Jerry (Jennifer), Somerset, WI, four grandchildren, Zachary Carlson, Claire, Audrey and Emily Dicks. They are all nice people. Pauline was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant daughter Martha, sister, Anna and brothers Ed and Andy.
A heartfelt thanks to the staff of Willow Pointe Memory care in Stoughton and Verona. Your efforts and kindness made a tough situation better. She loved you all and you could tell that by her little giggle. We also appreciate the staff of Hospice Care, who made the last days a smooth transition.
Funeral services were held on Monday, April 25, at First Presbyterian Church in La Junta, CO with the Rev. MJ Romano officiating. Pauline was buried at Fairview Cemetery in La Junta next to her husband and daughter. Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer's organization of your choice.
