Pete Ayala, 80 of La Junta, passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2009 at the Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center. Visitation will be Sunday, June 21st from 3 to 5 p.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel. Recitation of the Rosary will be Monday, June 22nd at 9:30 a.m. and Funeral Mass will follow at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe/St. Patrick Parish with Father Charles Sena officiating. Interment will be at the Calvary Cemetery in La Junta.
He was born October 6, 1928, to Santiago & Guadalupe (Ontiverous) Ayala in Braden, Nebraska. He married Mollie R. Hernandez on June 15, 1950, in La Junta. She preceded him in death on June 11, 2005.
Pete was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe/St. Patrick Parish. He was a Quiet reserved gentleman. He loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.
He is survived by his daughters, Jennifer Juniel of Colorado Springs, Frances Ayala of La Junta, Ruth Ayala of La Junta, brothers, Joe Ayala of La Junta and Nash Ayala of La Junta; sister-in-laws, Victoria Rael & Domie Sherman, both of La Junta; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Mollie R. Ayala; two infant sons; sister, Georgia McClain; great-granddaughter, Lisette Aceves.
