Pete Schneider

Pete Schneider, 87, of La Junta passed away on Thursday, March 19, 2009 at the Arkansas Valley Regional Nursing Care Center. Memorial services will be held Saturday, March 21st at 2 p.m. at the Peacock Memorial Chapel with Gale Allen of the Cowboy Church officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Higbee Cemetery.
He was born on May 30, 1921 to Peter Alexander & Flora Belle (Karney) Schneider in La Junta, Colorado.
Pete served in the US Army during WWII in the North Africa Theater of Operation. He enjoyed working with animals and he had a passion for horses.
He is survived by his companion, Bette Hunnicutt of La Junta; children, Rita (Jerry) Bay of Cheraw, Bill Schneider of La Junta, & Rae Ann (Kevin) Waggoner of Cheraw; grandchildren, Shauna (Todd) Orcutt of Haxtun, Shanna (Kelly Watkins) Riley of Haxtun, Jeff (Sue) Bay of New York, Alison Bay of California, Clara Jean Schneider of Denver, Eric Schneider of Denver, Erin Bartlett of Cheraw, & Ki Lynn of Cheraw; great-grandchildren, Daniel, Jessica, Acoya, Jaxton, and Kyle. A brother, George Schneider of Denver & numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Pete is preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Margaret Scarlett.
