Philip Martinez, 59, of Fountain, Colorado and formerly of La Junta passed away on September 23, 2016 at his daughter’s home in Fountain, Colorado. He was born on December 4, 1956 in Denver to Mike & Mary (Romero) Martinez.

He worked for the Santa Fe Railroad, and also did construction and painting. He was raised by his grandparents, Inez Romero and Camilo. Philip was an avid Denver Broncos fan and enjoyed music and his greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends and going on walks and trips to the park and library with his grandkids. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by daughter, Cassie (Tony) Apodaca of Fountain; sisters, Barbara (Pete) Solis, Linda (Robert) Martinez, Rosie Gallegos, Pat Whatley; brother, Tony Romero; grandchildren, Destiny Montano, Kianna, Joseph, and Chantel Martinez. He was preceded in death by mother, Mary Romero; son, Steven Martinez; and grandmother, Inez Romero.

A memorial service will be Friday, September 30, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel with Pastor John Dell of the First Christian Church of Rocky Ford officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Calvary Cemetery in La Junta.
