Mr. Richard (Rick) Grasmick died at home in Centennial, CO with the help of Denver Hospice after a valiant 3 year battle with Gastric Cancer.
Rick was born in La Junta, CO the youngest son of the late Henry and Dollie Grasmick. He graduated from La Junta High School, went on to Otero Junior College, Western State College in Gunnison and finally American Management Institute in Saranac Lake, NY. Rick was a Vietnam War Veteran, but the things that made him happiest were volunteering his time holding sick babies in the NICU ward of Children’s Hospital (never had one baby he couldn’t make go sound asleep in his loving arms) and taking care of dogs at the Denver Dumb Friends League. Rick was also an avid gardener, so we know what he will be doing in Heaven. Rick loved to travel and we were able to make his swan song trip to Mexico for some snorkeling just 10 days prior to starting Hospice. He also attended Eastern Hills Community Church in Aurora, CO.
Rick is survived by: His loving partner of 25 years, Scott Henderson of Centennial, CO; sisters, LaVerne (Jim) Davis of LaJunta; Delilah (J.D.) Spangle of Canon City, CO; brothers, Eugene (Shirley) Grasmick and Kenneth (Barbara) Grasmick both of Riverton, WY. Rick is also survived by an extended network of nieces and nephews too numerous to list. He was a great soul who will be terribly missed in this world.
There will be cremation followed by a private family interment.
Peacock-Larsen Funeral Home and Arkansas Valley Crematory is in charge of local arrangements.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Children’s Hospital at 13123 E 16th Ave Box 045 Denver, CO 80045 or Denver Dumb Friends League at 2080 S Quebec St, Denver, CO 80231 in Rick’s honor.
