Rosalie M. Schmidt

Rosalie M. Schmidt, 68, of La Junta passed away on Wednesday, February 11, 2009 at her La Junta home. Following her triumphant battle with cancer. Visitation will be Friday, February 13th from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel. Recitation of the Rosary will be Saturday, February 14, 2009 at 8:30 a.m. funeral mass will follow at 9:00a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe/St. Patrick Parish with father Ben Bacino officiating.
She was born on September 4, 1940 in Stamford, Connecticut to John & Frances (Jablonski) Maleski. She married Alan R. Schmidt on September 10, 1960 in Stamford, Connecticut. He preceded her in death on July 18, 2000.
Rosalie worked at Mayer Flower Shop, Stan’s Donut Shop, volunteered at the Otero Museum, 10,000 Villages, and was a substitute teacher at La Junta Schools.
She is survived by her children, Monica (Jeff) Capak of Irving, TX; Robert (Janette) Schmidt of Colorado Springs, CO; Cathy (Jay) Neas of Arvada, CO; William (Kaysie) Schmidt of La Junta; sister, Mary (Nick) Karukas of Stamford, CT; grandchildren, Michael Alan Capak, Brittany Nicole Schmidt, Emily Lynne Capak, Sam Robert Neas, Jennifer Lynn Schmidt, Rosalie Frances Neas, Shealie Ann Schmidt, Rylan Marcus Schmidt.
Rosalie is preceded in death by her parents, John & Frances Maleski; husband, Alan Schmidt.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Seminary Burse, P.O. Box 1181, La Junta, CO, 81050 or to the Ark Valley Hospice Association, P.O. Box 408, La Junta, CO, 81050 direct or through the funeral home.
