Rudolph "Rudy" Weaver

Rudolph “Rudy” R. Weaver, 76, of Eckert, Colorado and formerly of La Junta, passed away Oct. 26, 2010 at the Montrose Memorial Hospital. Rudy was born October 27, 1933 in Mont Vista, Colorado to John & Katherine (Rumbach) Weaver. Rudy was the youngest of 18 children.
 Rudy was employed by Bender Oil, Culligan Soft Water and he was a member of the La Junta Police Department beginning in October of 1959 until his retirement. He was medically retired from the La Junta Police Department in the early 1970’s due to injuries sustained in the line of duty. He later started his own business, Rudy’s Construction, building and remolding homes in the La Junta and Gunnison areas.
Rudy enjoyed hunting, fishing with his children and grandchildren. He also liked being outdoors and doing wood work. I addition, he was an avid John Wayne fan. He was a member of the La Junta Gun Club and took part in organizing the Pistol Shoots for all Police Department and a member of the Elks Club. Rudy was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, who enjoyed spending time with his family and attending the Weaver Family Reunion.
Rudy is survived by his wife, Wanda of the Eckert home; daughter, Debbie (Tom) Powell of Las Animas; son, Mark (Chris) Weaver of Goodyear, AZ; daughter, Joan Johnson of Pueblo; son, Randy (Michelle) Weaver of La Junta; brother, Jack (Jesse) Weaver of Gunnison; sister, Francie Winegar of Orange, CA; several grandchildren & great-grandchildren; step-daughter, Rhonda (Randy) Thallman; step-sons, Randy (Shirley) Arndt and Rodney Lewis; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.    
He was preceded in death by his parents, John & Katherine Weaver; infant son, Michael Weaver; and 15 brothers & sisters.
Memorial services will be Saturday, November 13, 2010, at 4:00 p.m., at Peacock Memorial Chapel with Wayne Cathey of the First Southern Baptist Church officiating.
