Sadie M. Rizo

Sadie M. Rizo, 83 of La Junta passed away on Saturday, May 19, 2012 at the Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center.  Sadie was born on June 5, 1928, in Higbee, Colorado to Gabriel & Simona (Whatley) Martinez. She married Jose Rizo on Nov. 1, 1954 in La Junta, Colorado. 

Sadie worked at McKenzie Furniture Store for several years and the Colorado Boys Ranch for 24 years.  She enjoyed her family and will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her husband, Jose of the La Junta family home; sons, Salvador Rizo of Denver, Colorado and Raymond Rizo of Boulder, Colorado; granddaughter, Tiffany (Antonio) Morales of La Junta; brother, Domingo (Helen) Martinez of Green Mountain, Colorado; great-grandchildren, Edit & Eban; special friends, Jamie & Roberta Mendoza and Joe & Mary Moreno.  Numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews also survive.

Sadie was preceded in death by her parents, Gabriel & Simona Martinez, brothers, Joe, Max, Ralph, & Nidal Martinez, and two infant sisters.

Peacock-Larsen Funeral Home & Arkansas Valley Crematory is in charge of arrangements.


Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be Tuesday, May 22, 2012, at 6:00 p.m. and the Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. with Father Alphonsus Ihuoma officiating.  Both services will be at Our Lady of Guadalupe/St. Patrick Parish.  Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
