Samuel Thomas Carr

Samuel Thomas Carr, 75, passed away on November 13, 2017 at his La Junta home. He was born on December 24, 1941 in Randolph, NY to Harold & Mildred Carr.

Sam was an Army vet, and serviced as the president on the Swink Lions Club where he made the Lions Club #1 in state from 1980 to 1981. He also was a posse member from 1990 thru 2000. He was well known for his house and commercial painting. He painted the Statue of Liberty in the City Park and the Train on the hill. He was a very big volunteer in cleaning up the graffiti in La Junta. Sam enjoyed cooking for his family and friends and he was a man of strong faith and was a great listener. He loved his family and friends dearly and he will be missed greatly by many.

He is survived by his children, Karisa (Joel) Woodward of Longmont, CO; April (Frank Valdez) Carr of Longmont, CO; sisters, Ellen Carr, Bonnie Demiter, Phyllis Wienke all of Randolph, NY and Kay Crossley of Bemiss Point, NY; ex-wife, Kay (Steve) Carr-McReynolds of Longmont, CO; numerous nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Kasa Hanagan; grandchild, Brenden Hanagan; siblings, Doris, Neil, Jimmy, and Gene.

As per Sam’s request cremation has taken place and no services will be held at this time.

In lieu of flowers and a memorial service, the family will be putting up a Facebook page “In Memory of Sam Carr” and ask that you share your memories of Sam.
