Sharon Rae Murphy

October 19, 1936 — August 10, 2018

Sharon Rae (Smith) Murphy, of La Junta entered into the house of our Heavenly Father on Friday, Aug. 10, 2018, following a short illness at Parkview Medical Center in Pueblo. The Arkansas Valley native was 81.

Sharon was born Oct. 19, 1936 in Rocky Ford, to Robert and Roxie Smith. She graduated from Rocky Ford High School in 1954 and married Norman Murphy of La Junta in 1954; he preceded her in death on February 12, 1993.

Together, they owned and operated the real estate brokerage firm Norm Murphy & Associates Inc., where Sharon continued to work part time until her passing.

A faithful Christian, Sharon was very active in her community and church, teaching children and working in women’s ministry. She enjoyed traveling, reading and delighted in spending time with friends and family, whom she loved and touched deeply.

She is survived by her daughters, Linda (Tom) Brann of La Junta; Michelle Martin of Albuquerque, NM; son, Mark (Colleen) Murphy of Colorado Springs; sister, Judy (Richard) Eaman of Arvada, CO; grandchildren, Nathan (Sarah) Mast of Divide, CO; Jeremiah (Katie) Martin of Albuquerque, NM; Ian Murphy of Colorado Springs; Eamonn Murphy of Los Alamos, NM; Kalvin (Leah) Brann of Denver and Keith Brann of Colorado Springs; great-grandchildren, Nathan Jr., Nicholas Mast and Maverick Martin; two nieces and one nephew and numerous great-nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and nephew, Sean Eaman.

A celebration of Sharon’s life and share memories will be held on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at 11:00 a.m., at the Valley Community Church with Kurt England officiating, with a reception to follow also the church.
