Stanley W. Jebe

Stanley W. Jebe, 84, of La Junta, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Oct. 11, 2009 at the Arkansas Valley Regional Nursing Care Center. Funeral services will be Tuesday, October 13, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church with Reverend M.J. Romano officiating.
He was born on November 19, 1924 to Charles & Mabel (Johnson) Jebe. He married Phyllis L. Tatge in Benson, Minnesota on October 17, 1953; she preceded him in death on July 19, 1998.
Stanley was in a sanitarium in Minnesota for tuberculosis where he met Phyllis who was also suffering from TB. He was a photo lithographer in Waseca, Minnesota where the couple began their family and was active in the Grace Lutheran Church. He moved his family to La Junta in August of 1973 and purchased Shoe Roundup. Stanley owned and operated the store until his retirement in 1990. Stanley was an active member in the First Presbyterian Church, Meals on Wheels and Jay’s Christmas Dinner. He enjoyed being with his family and attending his grandchildren’s activities.
He is survived by his children, Lydia Jebe of La Junta; Mark Jebe of Tulsa, OK; Ruth Jebe of Denver; Miriam Jebe of Salida, CO; Paul (Beverly) Jebe of La Junta; siblings, Wanda (Larue) Thorwall of Rockford, Ill; Phyllis (Arnold) Adascheck of Anoka, MN; Rolland (Ruth) Jebe of Taluca, Ill; Suzanne Paulson of Sun City, AZ; seven grandchildren, Matt & Morgan Montoya, Quinn, Laurel, Shelly, and Mandi Jebe, and Kendall DeLyser; and a great-grandson, Vincent Montoya.
Stanley was preceded in death by his parents, Charles & Mabel Jebe; wife, Phyllis Jebe and brothers, Howard and Marvin Jebe.
