Stella K. Stancato

Stella (Sciumbato) Stancato, 100, former longtime La Junta resident, passed away August 21, 2009 at Swedish Medical Center in Englewood, CO.  Visitation will be Wednesdaym August 26, 2009, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel.  Recitation of the Rosary will follow at 7:00 p.m..  Graveside services will be Thursday, August 27, 2009, at 2:00 p.m., at Trinidad Catholic Cemetery with Father Kieran Alaribe of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church officiating.
She was born on June 28, 1909 at the home/store of her parents, Daniel and Mary (Talarico) Sciumbato, which is now a part of the Otero Museum complex.  Stella is the last survivor of their six children.  Stella was married to Orlando Stancato, Sr.; he preceded her in death in 1951.  She worked at Gibson’s & Bratvold Photography. 
Stella is survived a son, Orlando (Palma) Stancato, Jr. of Littleton; granddaughter, Donna (Bob) Lowden of Littleton; great-grandsons, Devin (Amanda) Lowden and Dane Lowden both of Littleton; great, great-grandson, Archer.
She was preceded in death by her husband and grandson, Roland Stancato.
