Steven Jerome Valdez, 32, of Rocky Ford passed away on Tuesday, February 17, 2009 at his home. Memorial service will be held Saturday, February 21, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel with Pastor Roger Harris of La Junta officiating.
He was born on April 28, 1976, in Denver, Colorado to Christobal “Chris” & Roberta “Bobbie” (Walz) Valdez.
Steven graduated from Rocky Ford High School class of 1994. He joined the US Army in 1994 until 1999 while serving he was a Military Police/Dog Handler. He was employed as a truck driver for Nobel Sysco. A special thank you to Willa West for the care, compassion, and love you showed to our loved one during this difficult time.
He is survived by his sons, Christobal Valdez, II & Alexander Jerome Valdez; parents, Chris & Bobbie Valdez; brother, Tim Valdez; sister, Monica Valdez; nieces, Shaniece, Tanika, & Kayla Valdez; nephew, Cristian Valdez; grandmother, Irene Valdez; aunts, Linda (Robert) Valdez & Frances (John) Madrid; godparents, Robert & Janet Vigil; adopted grandmother (personal baker) Noma Watson; numerous great aunts, great uncles, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jerome A. & Joan L. Walz; grandfather, Selestino Valdez; aunt, Gogi Bradburn; uncle, Tom Walz; High School friend, Chris Donelson.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Arkansas Valley Hospice, PO Box 408, La Junta, CO, 81050 direct or through the funeral home.
Peacock-Larsen Funeral Home and Arkansas Valley Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
