Vera Ruth Goodrich

Vera Ruth Goodrich, 76, passed away on November 30, 2014 at her La Junta home. She was born April 20, 1938 in Las Animas, Colorado to Julius Adin & Alice Elizabeth (Lloyd) Palmer. She married Robert Lee Goodrich on May 26, 1957 in Kim, Colorado; he preceded her in death on August 14, 2005.


She graduated and was valedictorian at Kim High School in 1956. She attended Blair Business College during 1956-1957 and then Colorado School of Banking in August 17, 1979. She worked with her husband on the ranch from 1957-1968 then at the Colorado Bank & Trust from 1968-1988 and then for the Rocky Ford National Bank from 1988-2001. She was a member of the Southern Colorado Chapter of Bank Administration Institute, Colorado Springs – Pueblo Group of National Association of Bank Woman, Director of the Colorado Bankers Association’s, Operations Committee, Swink School Board from 1985 – 1993, La Junta Chamber of Commerce, Order of Eastern Star, National Association of Bank Woman, Arkansas Valley After 5 Christian Women’s Group, and the Rocky Ford Rotary.

Ruth enjoyed spending time with her family and a few of her hobbies were flowers, dogs & cats, and traveling. She was baptized at the First Southern Baptist Church on October 30, 2001. She faithfully attended the Valley Community Church.

She is survived by her children, Roberta (Clifford) Patton of Pueblo West, Ron (Lynette) Goodrich of Pueblo, Rob (Debbie) Goodrich of Pagosa Springs, CO, Rhonda (Tracy) Pepper of La Junta, Richard (Mary) Goodrich of La Junta; grandchildren, Travis Patton, Tara Speaks-Bey, Mary Patton and Robert Patton all of Pueblo West; Jennifer Goodrich, Brandon Goodrich both of Pueblo; Clayton (Maria) BonDurant of Gunnison; Angie (Vic) Martinez of Laramie, WY; Abel (Stacie) Flores of Sahuarita, AZ; Gabriel (Maria) Flores of Sahuarita, AZ; Renea (Brian) Smith of McCook, NE; Bobby (Kelsea) Goodrich of Kim; Brittaney Goodrich of Elmhurst, IL; Dylan Pepper of Rocky Ford; Zeph, Austin and Ethan Pope all of La Junta; Gracie Goodrich of La Junta; Richard James Goodrich of La Junta; 17 great grandchildren; sisters, Arlene (Bill) Mizer of Pritchett; Mary (Fred) Jones of Kim; in-laws, Donna (Danny) Johnson of La Junta; Tommy (Theresa) Goodrich of Kim; Leland (Joanne) Goodrich of Pritchett; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, Zach (Helen) Palmer; granddaughter, Amy Little; father& mother-in-law, Loyd (Lenora) Goodrich.


In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Arkansas Valley Hospice, PO Box 408, La Junta, CO, 81050 or to the Valley Community Church direct or through the funeral home.





Visitation will be Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2014, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel. A Celebration of Life service will be Thursday, Dec. 4, 3014, at 11:00 a.m. at the Valley Community Church with Reverend Kurt England officiating.
