Virgil E. Mascarenas

Virgil E. Mascareñas, 85, passed away on November 6, 2019 in Aurora, CO. He was born on October 21, 1934 in La Junta, Colorado to Augustine & Claudia (Whatley) Mascareñas. He married Jenny Reyna on February 2, 1963; she preceded him in death on July 3, 2015.

Virgil served in the United States Army from 1957 and was honorably discharged in 1963. He owned and operated Virgil’s Upholstery Shop on 2nd & Lewis. He enjoyed fishing, watching sports, visiting with family and really enjoyed being a grandfather.

Virgil is survived by his sons, Mark (Leslie) Mascareñas and Paul (Nancy Barnes) Mascareñas; two grandchildren, Terran and Tanner Mascareñas; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, siblings, Benjamin Mascareñas, Alice Zacarias, Fred Mascareñas, Rudy Mascareñas, Raymond Mascareñas, Rita Fernandez, Bill Mascareñas and George Mascareñas.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at the Calvary Cemetery with Father Henry Wertin officiating with military honors by the Rocky Ford Rifle Team, American Legion Post #8.
