Virginia Galligher, 83, of Rocky Ford passed away on Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at St. Mary Corwin Hospital in Pueblo. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. and services will follow on Wednesday, April 7, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel with Pastor Maynard Bowen of the Prairie Bible Chapel officiating.
She was born March 24, 1927 in Cockeysville, MD to Robert & Ada (Lloyd) Fishpaw.
Virginia was the 2007 Arkansas Valley Fair Silver Queen. She had many foster children that she cared for during her life. She was very active in the Pioneer Nursing Home and was the President of the Nursing Home, also was a member of the AVRMC Auxiliary and as well as the Crossroads. Virginia had a passion for singing and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter, Gail (Tim) Schaffer of Queenstown, MD; brother, Bruce Fox of Crawfordsville, Indiana; granddaughter, Marianne Galligher of Swink; great-grandchildren, Hannah, Hunter, and Hayden; grandson, Michael (Rachel) Leaf; great-granddaughter, Gabriela Gonzales; grandchildren, Robert Smoot, Dawn Smoot, and Dominic Raymond.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert & Ada Fishpaw; daughter, Bonnye Dickens; husband, Roy Galligher; and her good friend, Inez Kristensen.
Peacock-Larsen Funeral Home & Arkansas Valley Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers may be made to the Prairie Bible Chapel direct or through the funeral home.
