Warren L. Snyder

August 14, 1923 — June 16, 2010

Warren Lee Snyder, 86, of La Junta, passed away on Wednesday, June 16, 2010, at the Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center. Funeral service will be Monday, June 21, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at the First Christian Church with Rev. Ron Skorick of the First Christian Church officiating. Interment will follow at the Fairview cemetery with Military honors.
Warren was born on August 14, 1923, in Russell, Kansas to Emmanuel & Cecil (Vandebur) Snyder. He married Charlene Garcia on September 9, 1945 in Raton, New Mexico.
Warren attended OJC for four years studying Animal Husbandry & Agriculture Science. He was in the U.S. Navy in the Asian Theatre on a munitions carrier. He farmed with his parents and solo until August 1966. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service for several years and in 1966 he began working for the Santa Fe Railroad as a pipe fitter until his retirement in 1988. His passions were camping, fishing, gardening and his family. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Warren is survived by his wife, Charlene of the La Junta home; children, Victoria Warren; Janice Whatley; Gary Snyder; Sylvia (Mike) Douglass all of La Junta; Karen (Lonnie) Estep of Peralta, NM; Shelly (Paul) Trujillo of La Junta; grandchildren, Kimberly Warren of La Junta; Patti (Aarron) Macias of Parker, CO; Brian Whatley of La Junta; Levi (Sally) Dellinger of Rocky Ford; Sean (Cassie) Douglass of Durango; Chris Douglass of Ft. Collins; 11 great-grandchildren, Marcos & Alycia Trujillo, Zane & Dax Macias, Chloe, Michael, & Joshua Douglass, Joseph & Brian Gabaldon, Sebastian, Derek, & Logan Estep; great, great-grandson, Emiliano Trujillo; and nieces, Carol Lassiter of Colorado Springs and Barbara Hess of Atlanta, Georgia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son, granddaughter, & two sisters.
Peacock-Larsen Funeral Home & Arkansas Valley Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
