Alvino G. Torrez, was born on July 1, 1954, in Dodge City, Kansas. He departed this life on November 11, 2024, at his home in La Junta, Colorado, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and dedication.

Alvino career was marked by an unwavering commitment to service. In 1974, he moved to Dodge City, Kansas, where he began a significant tenure with the railroad. Over the next 40 years, Alvino dedicated himself to this line of work, ultimately retiring in 2014. His steadfastness and diligence earned him the respect of colleagues and friends alike.

A graduate of La Junta High School, Class of 1973. Alvino found joy in hunting, fishing, gardening, and meticulously caring for his yard, activities that brought him much pleasure and fulfillment.

Alvino is survived by two loving sisters, Catalina (James) Harris of Plano, Texas, and Ledia Ayala of Leota, Kansas. His family will remember him fondly, along with his nephew and nieces: Kerri (Brandon) Brittain, Eli Torrez, Matthew (Carol) Torrez, Michael Torrez, Tara Torrez, Sarah Torrez, Whitney (Justin) Blackwood, Chaka Harris, and Quincy (Joyce) Harris. He also leaves behind 11 great-nieces and nephews and his extended family, all of whom will hold his memory dear.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Miguel and Rosa Torrez, as well as his brothers: Eddie, Gilbert, Tim, Pedro, Joe, and Blas. Alvino is also mourned by his late brother-in-law, Michael Ayala, who, along with his siblings, welcomed him in spirit.

Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be Saturday, November 23, 2024, at 9:30 a.m. followed by the Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 a.m. Bost services at Our Lady of Guadalupe/St. Patrick Parish with Father Joseph Matitu officiating. Visitation will be Friday, November 22, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel.

Alvino G. Torrez will be remembered for his kind spirit, dedication to family, and his love for the outdoors. His presence in the hearts of his family and friends will forever be cherished.
