Carmel Olivares, 76, passed away on March 7, 2014 at his La Junta home. He was born on August 16, 1937 to Panfilo & Frances (Vasquez) Olivares in La Junta.
Carmel is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Bernice of the La Junta home; children, Frank Gonzales, Eddie Olivares, George (Mona) Olivares, Carmelita (Emmanuel) Campos all of La Junta; Vicky (David) Jiron of Pueblo; and Diana (Frank) Bustamante of Rocky Ford; grandchildren, Cassie (Paublo), Felicia and Manuel Campos; Angela, Charles (Andrea) and Daniel Bustamante; Chasity and Hilary Olivaras; Brianna Jiron and Santino Olivares; his sisters, Rita Whatley, Emma (Raymond) Jara and Pauline (Tony) Rangel. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, David Gonzales, brothers, Chano and Tony Olivares; sister, Isabel Del Rio.
Peacock-Larsen Funeral Home & Arkansas Valley Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be Friday, March 14, 2014, at 9:30 a.m. at our Lady of Guadalupe/St. Patrick Parish and Funeral Mass will follow at 10:00 a.m. with Father Matthew Wertin officiating. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 13, 2014 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel.
