Catherine Lopez

Catherine Lopez, 82, passed away on July 29, 2013 at her La Junta home. She was born on May 13, 1931 in La Junta, Colorado to Adolph & Manuela (Beccera) Guerrero.

She is survived by her children, Peter “Sam” Mata, Catherino Mata, Dino (Kristine) Lovato, Mary (Elias) Altamirano, Gloria (Bula) Lopez, Anthony (Monica) Sanchez; sister, Carmel Tranthom; brother, Joe Guerrero, Sr.; grandchildren, Felicity Mata, Wendy, Aaron, Amy, and Nick Mata, Antonio, Rachel, and DJ Lovato, Ashley and Elias, III Altamirano, and Richard Lucero; great-grandchildren, Javier, Lexani, and Neolani Sanchez, Antonio Lovato, Jr., Blade and Vincent Lopez. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Jose R. “Cuco” Lopez; son, Steve Mata, and daughter, Aurelia "Mona" Zamora.

Peacock-Larsen Funeral Home & Arkansas Valley Crematory is in charge of arrangements.

Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be Thursday, August 1, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. and Funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m. both services will be at Our lady of Guadalupe/St. Patrick Parish with Father Alphonsus Ihuoma officiating. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 31, 2013 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel.
