Cecilia Candalaria Davis

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Cecilia “Cil” Candelaria Davis, 89. She transitioned out of this life on July 27, 2026, surround by loved ones at her home in Greeley, CO. Cil was born May 20, 1937, to Gilbert and Rafelita (Valdez) Espinosa.

Cil lived her entire life as a devote Catholic. She spent many hardworking years as the data manager at First National Bank in Lamar, CO. She was most commonly known as “Grandma” or “Nana” to those who loved her. Her five children, 19 grandchildren, niece, great-nieces and numerous great-grandchildren were her entire world. 2-dollar bills, handmade crochet items, and quality time were three of her favorite ways to express her love to her family. She also spent many hours crocheting items for donation to the local hospital’s NICU.

She leaves behind three children, Sheryln Stephens, Gilbert Davis, and Teresa Grasmick, 18 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her niece, great-nieces and many friends. Cecilia is preceded in death by her parents, sister, daughters, Denise Davis and Julie Kinter, and granddaughter.

Her legacy and story will live on in those who survive her. She will be greatly missed by each and every one.

Visitation will be held Thursday, July 30, 2026 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel in La Junta. Please join us in a celebration of life on Friday, July 31, 2026, at 10:00a.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel with Father Edwin Barizo of Our Lady of Guadalupe/St. Patrick Parish officiating. Interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery in La Junta.
