Charles David “Chuck” Eckhart, age 74, passed away on December 13, 2025, in La Junta, Colorado. He was born on November 4, 1951, in Rocky Ford, Colorado.

Chuck grew up on a farm in Manzanola, Colorado, where he developed a strong work ethic and a lifelong love for animals. He was actively involved in 4-H, proudly showcasing his Black Angus cattle in many events. Chuck was a proud graduate of Manzanola High School.

As a young adult, Chuck married and moved to Oklahoma, where he and his wife welcomed two daughters who were very dear to his heart. Chuck worked for many years as a welder at the Rae Corporation, a trade he took pride in. After returning to Colorado, Chuck was employed by Uptown Music and Video, where he worked for several years before later working at Otero College through Sodexo.

Chuck was a father and grandfather who deeply cherished his family. He enjoyed making walking sticks, caring for his dog, and worshiping God. A passionate sports fan, Chuck was a huge supporter of the Arkansas Razorbacks. He had a gift for friendship and truly never met a stranger—everyone he met became a friend.

Chuck is survived by his daughters, Charla Rose Eddings and Jillian Smith; his grandson, Stephon Vanslyke; his granddaughter, Serena Rose Eddings; his brothers, Larry Eckhart and Dwight Eckhart; and numerous nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly. Chuck is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Ruby Eckhart and Roy Eckhart of Manzanola, Colorado.

Chuck will be remembered for his kindness, faith, and the love he shared so freely with others.
