It is with great sadness that we announce that Dionisia “Ding” Suher (80), of Olney Springs, passed away on January 4, 2026, in the Philippines. Dionisia Nemeño was born May 8, 1945, in Cebu, the Philippines.
On October 17, 1976, she married Ed Suher from Olney Springs, Colorado. Mr. Suher was the Postmaster in Olney Springs. In 1977, Ding began working at the small café in Olney Springs and by 1981 she took over as the manager. Ding genuinely enjoyed cooking and running the café. Locals and others from around the county would visit the café for her daily specials. Even the bicycle riders who passed through Olney Springs knew of Ding’s Café. It was a favorite place for them to stop. When the café was closed on Wednesdays, Ding and Ed often helped people in need by taking them shopping.
After many years Ding decided to close the café. She continued her love of cooking and baking and would always have something prepared if someone stopped by. She baked and gave away pies, cookies, cinnamon rolls & such to various organizations. She was a member of the Olney Springs Lady Lions. She enjoyed gardening and visiting with her many friends.
Dionisia “Ding” is survived by her sisters, Domnina Canoñes, Victoria Baratas, several nieces, nephews, and other relatives in the Philippines. She is also survived by her stepchildren Janet (Byron) Kashiwamura, and Eddie (Sharon) Suher, and many other relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband Ed Suher, her parents, and many loved ones.
We will all miss Ding very much. She was a warm, caring, and generous person, who enjoyed giving to others. Due to health issues, Ding had gone to the Philippines in October of 2025 to be with her family.
No local services are currently scheduled. A special “Thank You” goes out to the Olney Springs Lady Lions, and her many friends.
