Edna Louise Root, 95, passed away on September 18, 2018 at the Arkansas Valley Regional Nursing Care Center in La Junta. She was born on July 25, 1923 in Springfield, Ohio to Leland John & Lula Mae (Hilderbrand) Prater. She married Lester M. Root on March 2, 1947 in Raton, New Mexico; he preceded her in death on November 21, 1999.
During WWII, Edna worked on airplane brakes assemblies at the airbase in La Junta. She was a member of the Church of Christ since 1955.
She is survived by her children, Linda (Ron) Skorick of La Junta; Richard Root of La Junta; Fred (Lynn) Root of Fountain; Daniel (Teresa) Root of Aurora; and Tammy Wandling of Kennewick, WA; 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John & Mae Prater; husband, sisters, Eleanor Loftis and Jeanette Cline; great-grandchildren, Alexander Skorick and Isaac Pipkin.
Memorial service will be held on Monday, October 1, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of Christ with Evangelist Terry Smalling officiating.
The family would like to thank the Arkansas Valley Regional Nursing Care Center staff for all their love and support they gave to Edna.
