Elvira Martinez De Estrada, 88, of Wilmington, California passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2025, at her Wilmington home surrounded by her loving family. She was born Wednesday February 3, 1937 in Purepéro, Michoacán; Mexico to Juan & Jerarda (Reyez) Martinez.
A woman of great warmth and vibrant spirit, Elvira was known for her friendly demeanor, always welcoming everyone into her home. Her generosity knew no bounds, as she consistently had gifts prepared for those she held dear, a testament to her caring nature.
Throughout her life, Elvira found joy in the simple pleasures. She had an affinity for rummage and garage sales and held a particular fondness for collecting chicken figurines of all shapes and sizes. She loved to eat seafood, especially shrimp, and was a remarkable cook. She delighted in sharing her unique & delicious dishes with friends & family. Elvira also had a sweet tooth, enjoying various kinds of chocolates, often accompanied by her favorite beverage, Dr Pepper. Her love for plants and flowers brought beauty into her life and the lives of those around her, showcasing her nurturing spirit.
Elvira loved playing & playfully "cheating" at, Loteria, (Mexican bingo), a beloved tradition that brought laughter and connection among friends and family. Elvira shared a loving bond with her husband Julio, embarking on weekly outings that created treasured memories, whether they were simple day trips or just afternoons spent together. Their companionship was a beautiful chapter in her life, and now, they will rest together in eternal peace.
Elvira took immense pride in her family, especially her grandchildren, each of whom she knew in a unique way, creating a special connection with each. As she moved through life, her home remained a sanctuary for loved ones, embodying a spirit of hospitality that touched many hearts.
Elvira's life was rich with love, laughter, and a profound appreciation for family and friendship. She will be deeply missed, and fondly remembered for her warm-heartedness, making others feel welcome, and the lasting impact she had on the lives she touched. The family invites all who knew and loved Elvira to join them in celebrating her life and legacy.
Elvira is survived by her children, Hugo Estrada, Dante (Rosa) Estrada, Mirella Estrada, Rocio (Enrique) Vega, and Ulises (Jessica) Estrada; 22 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 3 siblings, Angela, Alejandro & Jose Luis. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Julio Estrada; 3 sisters, 6 brothers, & grandson, Miguel Narez.
Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held August 22, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe/St. Patrick's Parish in La Junta, CO with Father Joseph Matitu Our Lady of Guadalupe/St. Patrick's Parish officiating. Inurnment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in La Junta.
