Erma Mae (Osbourn) Grantham, 84, of Ordway entered into her heavenly home on August 31, 2021. She was born to parents George Marion and Lillian Ruth (Rusher) Osbourn on August 27, 1937 in Crowley, Colorado.
Erma graduated from Ordway High School in 1955 and attended Blair Business College in Colorado Springs after graduation. She was married to Richard Franklin Grantham in 1956.
Erma was a mom, a grandmother, a great-grandmother, deaconess, camp cook, church pianist, choir alto, candy striper organizer, 4H leader (Spoons and Spools), arts & crafts teacher, typing teacher, school monitor, and student holiday planner at Ordway Baptist Christian School and also worked as secretary for Richard at Grantham Realty in Ordway.
Erma enjoyed entering her prize-winning crafts and decorated cakes in the county fair. She was an amazing cook to which all her kids and grandkids can attest. Her Oatmeal Fudge, Grape Nut Ice Cream, Butterscotch-Potato Chip Cookies and Cinnamon Rolls were some of her specialties along with the Sunday Pot Roast and the accompanying exquisite aromas that greeted the family as they came home from church. But the one dish that all the kids and grandkids talk about still is “Mom’s Greasy Tacos”. Erma is lovingly remembered for all these things as well as her quiet and gracious spirit and her warm, beautiful smile.
Erma became a child of God, was baptized, married, raised her children, served and volunteered for nearly 70 of her years in Ordway Baptist Church and in Ordway Baptist Christian School. Erma was immensely proud of and loved her family, and leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories.
Erma is survived by her husband, Richard; daughter, Lynell (Terry) MacDowall of Newark, Delaware; son, Gary (Lori) Grantham of Canon City, Colorado; son, Larry Grantham of Greeley, Colorado; daughter, Lynda (Doug) England of Ordway, Colorado; son, Kevin (Caroline) Grantham of Canon City, Colorado; and her brother, Lloyd Osbourn of Ukiah, California. She was also blessed to have 18 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Erma was preceded in death by her parents and her grandson, Bryce Canon Grantham.
