Fermin Ornelas

Fermin Ornelas, 66, passed away on June 17, 2020 at his Rocky Ford home. He was born on July 11, 1953 in Carlsbad, NM to Martin & Gabriela (Adame) Ornelas.

He graduated from Manzanola High School. He worked at the Rocky Ford Food Market, Neoplan USA, Nadco, and the American Sugar Factory. He also was a member of the St. Peter’s Catholic Church. He was retired and enjoyed it. He always had to have his hair combed. He loved listening to music, enjoyed watching NFL football and NBA basketball, and also boxing. He was a handy man and enjoyed helping family. Fermin will be missed by his family and all who knew him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Julia of the Rocky Ford home; son, Isaiah Ornelas of Denver; daughter, Vanessa Ornelas of Pueblo; siblings, Raymond (Gloria) Ornelas of Manzanola; Fanny (Victor Rocha) Ornelas of Rocky Ford; Juanita Bermudez, Socorra Tijerinia both of Lansing, Michigan; Hortensia (Juan) Martinez of TerraBella, California; Sammy (Josie) Ornelas of Wellington, Texas; Bobby (Senaida) Ornelas of Carlsbad, NM; sister-in-law’s, Barbara Ornelas of Ft. Collins; Connie Ornelas of Rocky Ford; seven grandchildren, Aubri, Autumn, and Ashlyn Ornelas all of Denver; Jordan Ramsey, Amerette Ornelas, Serenity Ornelas and Shawn Varela all of Pueblo. Numerous nieces and nephews and many other loved family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Pilo and Ben Ornelas.

A graveside service will be Friday, June 26, 2020 at 11 a.m. at the Valley View Cemetery in Rocky Ford with Father Paul Ekeh of the St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Rocky Ford officiating.
