Gailen “Gail” Edward Evett, 67 of La Junta, Colorado passed away December 23, 2025, in Ordway, Colorado surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 16, 1958, at Hill Air Force Base, Utah to Donald “Pete” & Martha (Piatt) Evett. Gail was 2nd oldest of 4 children.
At the age of about 6, Gail's parents loaded the 4 kids up and moved to Alaska, where they lived for 13 years before returning to Cheraw.
Gail enjoyed working on vehicles, spending the summers camping with his family, teaching grandkids and their friends to waterski and wakeboard, arrowhead hunting and watching his only grandson race.
Gail is survived by his wife of 42 years Tammy Evett of La Junta, CO; daughter Ashley (Chantz) Petty of Sugar City, CO; & son Chad Evett of Van Nuys CA; three grandchildren, Bailey, Shianne & Wade Petty of Sugar City, CO; sisters Deborah Pointon of Denton, TX, Deora Burns of Cedar Falls, TX, brothers-in-law, Buddy (Karey) Mueller of La Junta, CO, & Rocky (Brenda) Mueller of Swink, CO; sisters-in-law, Debbie Evett & Irene Sisneros; aunts, Lena Piatt of La Junta, CO; Margie Piatt of Rocky Ford, CO; uncle, Glenn Enderud of Pueblo, CO; numerous nieces & nephews, & lifelong friends also survive as well as his family dog Annie. Gail is preceded in death by his parents, Don & Martha Evett, brother, Jerry Evett, mother & father-in-law, Lloyd & Judy Mueller.
Memorial Service will be held Friday, January 2, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel in La Junta. Inurnment to follow at Fairview Cemetery in La Junta.
