Genesis G. Mondragon, 9, of La Junta, Colorado passed away June 29, 2026, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was born on January 6, 2017, to Alfred A. Mondragon, Jr. & Shanice Lopez.

Genesis had a sweet, infectious laugh with a smile that could light up the room. She loved her nail & spa days, playing with her Nee-Dohs along with other fidget toys, drawing, and roller-skating in her favorite roller skates. She also loved playfully rubbing her feet on Mom. One of her favorite foods was Dave’s Hot Chicken. Genesis was like a mother hen, always looking out for others and making sure everything was ok. Her personality was one of kindness and love. She enjoyed school. When there, she was fun, respectful & outgoing, making sure to be kind to all her other classmates and making sure all felt included. She will be missed by so many friends and family.

Genesis is survived by her parents, Alfred A. Mondragon, Jr. & Shanice Lopez; siblings, Ezequiel Lopez-Chavez, Luciano Mondragon, & A’Laysia Mondragon; step-brother, Izaiyah Ramirez, step-sister, Mariana Ramirez; step-mothers, Alexandra Kintscher, and Alissa Ramirez; grandparents, Cheree Lopez, Jennie (Dean Fernandez) Romero, and Cynthia (Brian) White; great-grandparents, Lilly Lopez, Patsy Romero and Alexandra Cruz; nina, Ashley Lopez; God-sisters, Miangel Bell & Ceniza Casias; numerous aunts, uncles & cousins also survive. She is preceded in death by her grandfather, Alfred A. Mondragon, Sr.; favorite fur baby, Kota-Lee; great-grandparents, Roy (Socorro) Lopez & Alfonso (Sadie) Archuleta; great-uncles, Richard Lopez, Roy Lopez & Robert Romero.

Funeral Service for Genesis will be held on Monday, July 13, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at First Church of the Nazarene in La Junta with Pastors Daniel Blackwell & Randy Anderson of Victorious Church of Swink, Colorado officiating. Interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery in La Junta.
