Genevieve Salazar

M. Genevieve Salazar, 89, entered into eternal rest on August 18, 2026, at her home. She was born in Trinidad, CO, spent a few years in Pueblo, CO before settling in La Junta for the remainder of her life. She was a loving mother, an excellent cook and enjoyed Mexican music, bingo and trips to various casinos.

She is survived by her daughters, Dena Salazar, Karla (Dean)Knoell, Karen(Edmund)Lovato, Paula Sue (Eric Stringer)Salazar; grandchildren, Ezekiel (Stacy)Ayala, Xavier Talton, Shane Lovato, Cody (Eva) Knoell, and Rachel Salazar; great-grandchildren, Thomas, Sophia (Jason), Sicily, Elijah, Zeta, Max, and expectant baby boy. Genevieve is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Serafin E Salazar, and daughter, Cynthia Hicks; siblings, Margaret Romero, Rachel Gallegos, Lawrence Lucero, Eloy Lucero, and Martha Jean Reeb.

Per her request, cremation has taken place and a private family burial will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ark Valley Hospice, PO Box 408, La Junta,CO directly or through the funeral home.
